Hermione: There’s been a lot of talk recently that Dumbledore’s got a bit old.

magic-of-hogwarts:

oh god. This, this, this. I hate all the unnecessary hate towards James. Just because everyone saw from one little chapter that James was a dick towards Snape doesn’t mean that he was a bad person. Lily loved him, him not Snape. Everyone can say Snape ‘deserved’ Lily till they’re blue in the face but Lily chose James. He never insulted her blood status. He never hung out with soon to be death eaters or glorified in the dark arts. James loved her just as much as Snape did, maybe more but you would never get to see that in full force because he died to protect her, and his one year old son. You get to see the love Snape feels for Lily because he was still alive (partially) to give Harry those memories. Snape only ever protected Harry because he loved Lily, and felt guilty that it was his fault that she died. If Snape had never loved Lily then it would be very, very likely that he would never have gone over to the good side. He would have stayed firmly under Voldemorts wing. I don’t even think Dumbledore ever trusted him completely, probably only 99% of the time because there was that 1% that still believed that Snape could turn hence why he never gave him the Defence against the Dark Arts job until he felt like he had to.
